1966 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship

In the 1965-66 college basketball season, history was made by Texas Western College. Presently known as the University of Texas at El Paso, the school honed by Josh Lucas comprised of seven dark players and five white players, a blend that was a long way from the standard for a group that was as high in the rankings as the Southern group.

In a season that was loaded with cocked eyebrows, supremacist insults and substantial demonstrations of separation, Texas Western completed the season before finishing one of the best underdog triumphs in NCAA competition history.

Their 72-65 win against a university powerhouse in Kentucky wasn't vital for beating the chances, however for the way that Lucas had chosen to handle an all-dark beginning lineup in the most advertised round of the year.

The win, and the way in which it came, just underlined what Texas Western had officially demonstrated all through the season.
