Former South Africa fast bowler Fanie De Villiers says India have shot themselves in the foot by permitting remote players to get acclimatized to its conditions through the Indian Premier League (IPL) and were no more a major danger at home.
South Africa secured the three-match T20 arrangement 2-0 and won the ODI cycle 3-2 after match-winning exhibitions by a few of its stars who highlight in the IPL.
What's more, De Villiers feels India have been the "engineer of their own defeat."
"Our players are utilized to Indian conditions and India have been their own particular designer of this outcome by having abroad players getting used to the Indian conditions [through IPL]," De Villiers told The Times of India.
The 51-year-old pacer, who spoke to South Africa in 18 Tests and 83 ODIs, is of the perspective that subcontinent conditions were no more as debilitating as they used to be previously.
"Before, we haven't lost against India, we have lost against the conditions. India aren't great abroad, they are just great in their own particular conditions. They are fundamentally the modeler of their own ruin in light of the fact that you have made the situation [IPL] where our players can play in your conditions."
Before the on-going visit, South Africa had never won an ODI arrangement in India. What's more, De Villiers feels, the Test arrangement will be harder for India than some time recently.
"Indeed, even Test cricket-wise, South Africa will be more focused than previously. Throughout the previous 15 years, we have played in such a variety of arrangement however couldn't beat India on the grounds that we battled against the conditions. There's this huge distinction between losing against India and losing against conditions. This will be a much harder arrangement for India," he figured.
India and South Africa will tackle one another in four Tests beginning November 5.
