Not even Messi could replace Gerrard, says Can

Emre Can is keen to follow in the strides of Steven Gerrard at Liverpool, however asserts that not even Lionel Messi could take the previous skipper's place at Anfield. 

Gerrard left Liverpool for LA Galaxy toward the end of last season, with Germany universal Can touted as one of his long haul successors in the club's motor room. 

Yet, the 21-year-old feels that Gerrard is essentially basic. 

"I don't think anybody can supplant Gerrard, be it Messi or whoever," Can he said. 

"Obviously I might want to follow in his way yet he truly was the best player for Liverpool on the pitch as well as off the pitch also." 

Liverpool are unbeaten under the administration of new manager Jurgen Klopp and Can is confident that his comrade can control them to Champions League capability. 

He included: "Jurgen Klopp has a triumphant mindset, he is ravenous for titles. Furthermore, the way we work is that on the off chance that we trust it, we can win a match.
