Meal without local currency: Afridi’s day saved by fan

Shahid Afridi was spared from humiliation by one of his fans at a McDonald's eatery inside Auckland air terminal on Monday when the Pakistan T20 skipper acknowledged he was not conveying neighborhood cash to pay for his feast.

Waqas Naveed, who paid Afridi's bill, said, "I did it just to welcome these folks [the Pakistan team]." "Each Pakistani is a major cricket fan and it's incredible to see our nearby stars here in Auckland," he included.

Afridi was as of late involved in a tiff with the media trial after the veteran all-rounder gave a contemptuous answer to a TV journalist before leaving for the New Zealand visit.

Afridi on Wednesday ended up amidst a tempest by advising a nearby TV correspondent amid a public interview held in Lahore after his captaincy qualifications were addressed. His reaction set off a little dissent by the media outside stadium, with columnists requesting a conciliatory sentiment.

The 35-year-old has a record of being forthright in his perspectives, something which has prompted him being endorsed previously. Pakistan are booked to play three T20s and the same number of ODIs against the Kiwis, with the visit set to commence on January 15.
