The bowling coach of the Victoria state cricket side, Mick Lewis, has been fined for ball altering in the wake of raking it over cement amid the last of Australia's residential Sheffield Shield rivalry on Monday.
Lewis, a previous seamer who played seven one-day internationals for Australia, had as of now cost his group a five-run punishment against South Australia yet on Tuesday, he was slapped with an A$2,266 ($1,710.60) fine.
The episode came in the tenth over of South Australia's second innings when Lewis "kicked the match ball into the drain past the limit rope and raked the ball over the solid whilst recovering it", read a Cricket Australia (CA) articulation.
"Ball altering is an intense offense and basically won't go on without serious consequences at any level of the amusement," CA's Head of Operations Sean Cary said.
"We recognize that he has apologized toward the South Australian group and the match authorities and trust the matter prevents others from doing anything like this later on."
Victoria are pursuing a second progressive Sheffield Shield title against South Australia, who have not won the yearly residential interstate rivalry since 1995-96.
The five-day match in the Adelaide suburb of Glenelg is booked to finish up on Wednesday.
