Efimova faces life ban after positive test

MOSCOW: Russia's Yulia Efimova faces an existence boycott after the breaststroke expert tried positive for meldonium, with her makeshift suspension affirmed by the All-Russian Swimming Federation (ARSF) on Thursday. 

The 23-year-old four-time title holder, who has been situated in the United States following 2011, gave back a positive result amid an out-of-rivalry test, as per a TASS news office report. 

"The All-Russian Swimming Federation advises that we got archives from the International Swimming Federation (FINA) which affirm that the sportswoman has been briefly suspended from rivalry because of the likelihood of breaking hostile to doping regulations," ARSF said on its site (www.russwimming.ru).
