Ambrose ‘very disappointed’ at losing WI consultancy job

Curtly Ambrose, the previous West Indies quick bowler, has said the choice to expel him as West Indies' rocking the bowling alley advisor came as "somewhat of a stun". Ambrose was supplanted with Roddy Estwick on the weekend; he said head mentor Phil Simmons let him know the choice was made in light of the fact that Simmons needed somebody who is "more specialized" to mentor the group's quick bowlers.

"I just learnt about it from head mentor Phil Simmons on Wednesday [last week], and when he let me know I said to him that I am extremely disillusioned, in light of the fact that I never expected it, and I never saw it coming since he never gave me any sign he was going to release me," Ambrose was cited as saying in the Antigua Observer. "In this way, it came as somewhat of a stun fundamentally, yet I haven't chose which bearing I am going to take just yet. I'll simply interruption and give it a little time to consider it and choose where I need to follow."

Ambrose had served as West Indies' advisor throughout the previous three years, his latest task being the World T20 triumph in India in April. The WICB public statement did not express an explanation behind Ambrose's way out. "I addressed head mentor Phil Simmons, and he let me know that he needed somebody who is more specialized to work with the quick bowlers," Ambrose said. "Along these lines, I said to him well, in the event that you knew I was making a less than impressive display with regards to, then you ought to have let me know. He said no, I made an incredible showing with regards to, on the grounds that I conveyed an abnormal state of order to the group, and I have propelled the folks a considerable amount… yet he needs some person more specialized, thus, he is going for Roderick Estwick."
