Tendulkar made India’s ambassador for Rio Olympics

Cricket ICON Sachin Tendulkar was named on Tuesday as one of India's goodwill ministers for the forthcoming Rio Olympics taking after a furore over Bollywood star Salman Khan's arrangement, which was pummeled as unseemly.

Tendulkar said he acknowledged an offer from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to work close by Khan, whose arrangement set off a column about whether a performing artist was most appropriate to advance games among individuals.

"I have had the benefit and respect of speaking to our country for a long time and I keep on batting for India off the field," the expert batsman wrote in a letter to IOA boss.

"The welfare of sportspersons and urging them to give their best is of high repute to me."

The IOA named more represetatives, including expert Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra and Oscar-winning artist AR Rahman, in the days after the debate over Khan.

Olympic wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt had scrutinized Khan's arrangement, saying the "Olympics is not a spot to advance movies". Indian sprint legend Milkha Singh had asked the legislature to mediate to upset the choice.

Be that as it may, the IOA has shielded its choice. It says the 50-year-old performer is well known among youngsters.

Tendulkar, who is broadly loved in cricket-frantic India, played 200 Tests and 463 one-day internationals, thumping up a record 100 centuries in both configurations, before resigning in 2013
