British Masters: Matthew Fitzpatrick shares lead at Woburn

Britain's Matthew Fitzpatrick is joint pioneer of the British Masters with Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen following a strong second round at Woburn.

The 21-year-old was the overnight pioneer and added a 69 to his opening 64 to complete Friday at nine under.

Kjeldsen, 40, joined Fitzpatrick at the highest point of the leaderboard after he made 68 taking after his opening round of 65.

The team are one shot clear of England's Richard Bland and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat in the pursuing pack.

Fitzpatrick is in his first full season on the European Tour and hunting down his first title.

The 2013 US Amateur champion from Sheffield, positioned 111th on the planet, concedes he won't put himself under any undue weight heading into the weekend.

"I'm simply playing one opening, one round at once," Fitzpatrick said.

"On the off chance that the win doesn't come for the current week yet I climb on the planet rankings that is adequate for me, so on the off chance that I can simply keep climbing gradually that will be incredible."

Irishman Shane Lowry stays in dispute and finished the day two shots off the lead with while competition host Ian Poulter completed five shots behind on a four under.

Poulter endured a complete mis-hit at the fifth that prompted a twofold intruder six, however trusts he can compel his way again into dispute.

He said: "I'm on my home course and I know it well.

"Five shots back is extremely achievable on this course, the way I know these greens."
