Derek Redmond finishes with his father’s help, 1992




After an exceptionally encouraging yet harm tormented vocation, Britain's Derek Redmond at last had a possibility of 400m wonderfulness when he went into the 1992 Games in Barcelona in fantastic structure. In spite of a noteworthy win in the quarter-finals, disaster struck in the semis when Redmond's hamstring snapped part of the way through the race. In a standout amongst the most touching crossroads ever, Derek's dad ran onto the track and helped his child gradually fight his way to the completion, where he was met with an overwhelming applause from the 65,000 strong crowd.
