Schalke guard Joel Matip will join Liverpool toward the end of the season, as indicated by the German club.
Matip, 24, is set to land on a free exchange when his present manage the Bundesliga side terminates in the mid year.
The German-conceived player, who can play at focus back and in midfield, has 27 Cameroon tops and got through Schalke's childhood set-up.
He made his Bundesliga debut at 18 years old and has made more than 200 senior club appearances.
Matip is the second marking of Jurgen Klopp, who assumed control as Liverpool supervisor in October.
Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic marked for the Reds in January for £5.1m on a four-year contract yet instantly came back to previous club Red Star Belgrade on credit for the rest of this season.
