Barca down Atletico courtesy Suarez double

Luis Suarez scored two second-half objectives to lead Barcelona to a 2-1 rebound triumph more than 10-man Atletico Madrid in the main leg of their Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Fernando Torres opened the scoring in the 25th moment, yet rapidly went from saint to scalawag for Atletico when two careless handles saw him sent off in the 35th.

Atletico opposed the guarding champion's push for an equalizer until Suarez at long last leveled with an entrepreneurial objective in the 63rd.

Suarez then put Barcelona ahead in the 74th when he played Dani Alves wide before sending the Brazil guard's cross past goalkeeper Jan Oblak with a relentless header.

"This is one of the most noticeably awful days of my life as a football player," Torres said. "I'm dismal for having left my group with 10. Somehow I feel in charge of the group not winning.

"I am certain that with 11 it would have been totally diverse."

That view appeared to be shared by Suarez.

"Torres' red card was essential in light of the fact that everybody thinks about the quality he has," Suarez said subsequent to scoring his group high seventh and eight objectives in the Champions League this season.

"It was a disgrace since it would have been awesome to return against 11 players. The most critical thing is that we won and they will need to score in the Calderon."

Likewise on Tuesday, Bayern Munich edged Benfica 1-0 in their quarterfinal first leg.

Barcelona's fightback came three days after Real Madrid finished Barcelona's Spanish record 39-match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win at Camp Nou.

Other than recuperating its triumphant routes after the disillusioning "clasico" rout, Luis Enrique's side retaliated for its exit on account of Atletico from the 2013-14 quarterfinals with its club-record eleventh successive home win in the opposition.

Suarez took his general pull to 45 objectives this season, as he and strike accomplices Lionel Messi and Neymar recuperated their frame subsequent to disappointing against Real.

In any case, at full quality, Atletico's restrained resistance, which had Diego Godin back in the center after a harm cutback, upset Barcelona's assault, a promising sign that mentor Diego Simeone can take into the second leg notwithstanding the away objective.

"We are alive," said Simeone, who added that he needed to chill off after the match to abstain from reprimanding the ref for sending off Torres.

"They had the opportunity to get another objective, yet they couldn't oversee it. That will get our fans started up for the second match in Madrid."

Once more, the conflict of styles between the high-flying Barcelona and coarse Atletico delivered another amusing section in a developing contention between the Spanish clubs.

Atletico was substance to retain Barcelona's assaults until Antoine Griezmann got its first shot. While his exertion was off-target, Torres didn't miss a moment later to proceed with his awesome scoring record against Barceona.

Gabi Fernandez drove Atletico forward by going to Jorge "Koke" Resurreccion, who thusly slipped a through ball to meet Torres' run. The striker did the rest by sending a first-time shot between the legs of guardian Marc-Andre ter Stegen for his eleventh objective in 15 coordinates against Barcelona.

The objective unsettled Barcelona and Griezmann just about included another, just for Ter Stegen to make up for himself with a marvelous plunge to paw his volley past his post.

Accused of being Atletico's first line of protection, an over-excited Torres had grabbed a reserving for a foul on Neymar in the 29th, and a second awkward handle on Sergio Busquets earned him another yellow minutes after the fact.

Atletico succeeded in digging in until Barcelona got the pace of its passing and trimmed them into its case in the second half.

Midfielder Rafina went ahead as a second-half substitute for his first activity for Barcelona since tearing a right-knee ligament in September."

Luis Enrique said that other than Torres' sending off, his group took control by dumping its performance endeavors in the principal half and recuperating its group passing style.

"We played with our heads, not only our hearts, which can prompt calamity," Luis Enrique said. "I adored the match.

The main "yet" I would give it is that we didn't score another objective. We need to feel that we have to win at the Calderon."

Messi verging on hit with a gymnastic bike kick before Neymar let go the ball against the bar in the 51st. Seeing his group stuck in an unfortunate situation, Simeone sent on midfielder Augusto Fernandez for Yannick Carrasco, yet Suarez at last fixed Atletico when he was in position to turn in Jordi Alba's errant shot.

Barcelona kept on squeezing and Suarez was both playmaker and finisher when he spotted Dani Alves free on the conservative before pushing ahead to pound in his go for the triumphant objective.
